Congratulations to the Atlanta Braves on winning the World Series last night in dominating fashion as they beat the Astros in Game 5 of the score 7-0. Great pitching and defense and home run hitting offense paved the way for the Braves in game 5.
I was in middle school when the Braves won their World Series with an all-star Hall of Fame cast. It was cool to see this Atlanta team get hot at the right time and win despite having some key injuries at the end of the season and in the playoffs.
Congrats to former all-star Reds player Adam Duvall who is an Atlanta Brave and was a vital part of their success. My theory still stands true all of these years:
Theory: If a an all-star Reds player is traded or signs with another team because the Reds do not want to pay the player well and they end up winning a World Series ring.
Post 1990 World Series Reds Champions, It all started when all-star OF Paul O’Neill (1985-1992 as a Red/1993-2001 as a Yankee) became a New York Yankee. He goes from winning the 1990 World Series with the Reds to then having a remarkable career as a Yankee and winning World Series with them in 1996, 1998, 1999, & 2000. That’s right a 5 time World Series Champion. Reggie Sanders all-star OF became a Arizona Diamondback and won the 2001 World Series. Aaron Boone got traded in 2003 right after the All-Star game where he played in the All-star game as a Red but then traded to the Yankees that night. He hit an iconic game winning HR to send the Yankees to the World Series where they unfurtunately lost. He is the only player from my theory that did not win the World Series but had to mention him. Pokey Reese, all-star SS/2nd Basemen got traded to the Boston Red Sox in 2004 when they won the World Series in dramatic fashion that year after being down 3-0 to the Yankees in the American League Championship and coming back to beat the Yankees 4-3 in the series. The Red Sox then played the St Louis Cardinals for the World Series and beat them. Pokey Reese made the fiinal out to win the World Series as he got a ground ball at second base and scooped it up and threw it to David Ortiz for the victory. In 2015, Johny Cueto all-star pitcher for the Reds was traded to the Royals and the Royals won the World Series in which he pitched Game 2 of the World Series and pitched a complete game which has rarely been accomplished. Lastly, all-star OF Adam Duvall traded to Atlanta in 2018 and wins the 2021 World Series. Congrats to all of these players on getting a World Series Championship post the Reds last one in 1990..
