Packers Out Kick Bengals in OT Thriller

The Packers vs Bengals was a great game in what looked like would end in a tie because the kickers kept missing game winners. In the first quarter, both defenses came out hot as they controlled field control. Bengals led 7-0. In the 2nd quarter, Aaron Rodgers settled in and began moving his team up and the down the field throwing to Adams, controlling the clock, and getting a couple TDS getting 16 points. Towards the end of the 2nd quarter Burrow and the Bengals offense started to move the ball well and got a much needed TD from Burrow to Chase at the end of the second quarter. At Halftime it was Packers 16 – Bengals 14. In the 3rd quarter both defenses adjusted well to all of the minor adjustments made at halftime. Packers had 3 points in the 3rd quarter to the Bengals 0. Going into the 4th Quarter Packers were up 19-14. They got a field goal to go up 22 – 14. Bengals then got a good drive controlling the clock as Mixon got a TD. Bengals then went for 2 and Higgins caught it to tie the game.

This is where the game gets crazy. Packers get the ball and a chance to win by a FG. Packers do make it down the field. Crosby lines up to kick and misses!!! There is about 2 minutes left in the game after this. Bengals get the ball and move it well getting to a 57 yard FG range to win with about 30 seconds left. Bengals kick it and it misses barely hitting the post. Green Bay now gets the ball and move it down in FG range. Crosby kicks and misses!!! Game goes into overtime!

In overtime Bengals win the toss and elect to receive. On the first play Burrow makes a pass but to a spot where no one was but a defender!!!! Packers are now in FG range and a chance to win with a FG. Crosby kicks and misses!!! Bengals get the ball. Burrow moves the ball down the field for a 46 – 49 yard FG. McPherson kicks for the win and the ball starts right down the middle but then the gusty wind that had been there all game on these kicks picked up and it when high to the left of the post and barely misses!!!! The Packers now have the ball and there is about 2 minutes left in OT. IT would be fitting to end in a tie with how this game had gone. Rodgers on 3rd and long hit his pal WR Cobb and got the ball inches to a first down. Packers elect to send Crosby out 1 more time for a 49 yarder. Will one of the kickers finally make the kick???? Crosby nails it and Packers win 25 – 22. Hard fought game by both teams.

The kickers had some key misses but this was not the only game. Week 5 so far there were at least 4 -5 games where kickers missed to help their team to win or tie which led to the other opponent to have a chance to win.

Now both Bengals and Packers need to have short term memory as they get ready for their next week opponents. Bengals will play at Detroit on Sunday October 17 at 1:00 P.M. on FOX and the Packers play at Bears 1:00 P.M. on FOX. Check your local area listings to see which game you will see.
