The Bengals will not try to extend AJ Greens contract. He is a free agent. As sad as I will be that he is not in a Bengal uniform I am very happy for him. The Bengals are in a rebuilding phase and with another likely departure in Adkins on defense that is pretty much the last of the key players who played with Dalton.
AJ Green is now healthy and with a solid QB at the reigns he will be able to produce quality numbers. Last season with Joe Burrow taking over it was a chemistry issue that caused the lack of production we are used to seeing from AJ Green. The question remains where will he end up?
There are a few scenarios that I feel are the best fit for his talents to help chase a ring in the final years of him playing:
- Kansas City Chiefs : They are rebounding off a heartbreak loss in the Super Bowl to Brady and the Bucs. With the addition of Green at WR it would only add more firepower in their high octane offense. Green can sign a veterans minimum with encitives in his contract which would get him more money if there is success.
- Green Bay Packers: The Packers are coming off a very strong season with MVP Aaron Rogers but had the heart breaking loss to the Bucs that prevented them from making it to the Super Bowl. The offense of the Packers are lacking a solid #2 WR. AJ Green can be this answer to compliment Devante Adams. Adding Green as the #2 would benefit them greatly as you could do less double teaming on Adams which will create a lot of one-on-one matchups. Packers are here to win now. With adding Green to a veterans minimum the cost is just right with possibility to be Super Bowl bound. I would love to see this connection Rogers to Green!!!
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Coming off a Super Bowl win during Tom Brady first season as QB with them they will need to add some more depth to create even more firepower to repeat. Why not add AJ Green to this lineup!! He can sign a veterans mimimum with incentives. You could then have WR Evans; WR Brown: WR Johnson : WR Green. With having Gronk and Howard at TE along with RB Jones and RB Fournette you could have a spread out offense where when having 4 WR lineup you can’t double team any of them now because they are all so good at getting open when left one on one. It would have to be a zone defense and Brady would destroy anything coming at him. I like this addition of Green if it happens because he brings experieince and talent.
- Anwhere Andy Dalton Signs: I would like to see this reconeection because they set a lot of records together as Bengals. They have fantastic chemistry and wherever they are together they can help a offense succeed.
